Alice in Wonderland CostumeAlice in Wonderland will always be one of Lewis Caroll's timeless pieces of literature, but it is 's bizarrely fantastic 2010 movie that allowed Alice and her crew to make such a big comeback. This Halloween, you're sure to be a huge hit when you walk in with any of these Alice in Wonderland Halloween costumes. You can make them yourself, if you have a penchant for mixing and matching a few odd pieces you'd find buried in thrift stores, or you can order ready-made costumes from Disney's official store.

Alice

Let's begin with Alice, the curious girl who has an inclination towards the out-of-the-ordinary. When Alice follows the rabbit down the hole, there her fantastic adventures begin. Alice, of course, is the main character in the story and is also the easiest to portray. A blue dress adorned with a is a standard Alice getup; you can also obtain a pair of white glovelettes and a white hair ribbon in costume kits or separately.

Mad Hatter

Did you know that the Mad Hatter top hat is the biggest-selling accessory for 2010's Halloween? You had better move fast if you want a Mad Hatter Halloween costume because it seems like many others want to do the same. If you can't get an officially-licensed Mad Hatter hat, then make it yourself. A top hat adorned with a thick, peach ribbon can pass up for the real one. The full Deluxe Adult Costume is available at the Disney store and is running out fast. It includes a brown velvet jacket, multi-colored ribbons, a teacup print bowtie and the crazy hat the Mad Hatter is famous for. And, of course, you have to dye your hair orange as Johnny Depp did.

The /Red Queen

Originally the Queen of Hearts in Lewis Caroll's works, the Red Queen will be, no doubt, one of the head-turners in any Halloween bash. The most prominent feature you have to play up is the Red Queen's big head and you can do that with the officially-licensed Red Queen Hat available in a number of online and brick-and-mortar costume stores. If you want to splurge on a fabulous Queen of Hearts costume, then Disney's Alice in Wonderland Movie Deluxe Red Queen costume is your best bet. It comes complete with the hat, gown, petticoat, and collar in one set.

The Red Queen and Mad Hatter are guaranteed to be there at the biggest Halloween party, but nobody has really played up the Cheshire cat, so why don't you? Disney has, of course, an officially licensed Cheshire cat costume for women and teens, but you can also make your own with a striped pink-and-white body suit and a homemade pink tail. You also have to find some furry pink and purple boots to match your outfit and a big smile on your face to top it all off.

White Rabbit

Disney's costume store has released an officially-licensed white rabbit costume made up of a top hat adorned with furry bunny ears. The sizes come in for adults and children. You can also get a pair of fuzzy rabbit ears and wear a blue trench coat.

And, of course, you and a partner can go as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, or as the hookah-smoking Caterpillar, or the Knave of Hearts. One thing's for sure about Alice in Wonderland-it's a rich reservoir of Halloween costume ideas and you're sure never to run out of them!

Best Place To Buy Costumes

Wether you are looking to buy an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter costume or maybe a Red Queen costume this Halloween then the site I recommend is BuyCostumes.com. It has the best deals and selection online and makes picking a great costume super easy and fun.

Costume - Hints On Finding The Best Costume

Little did Lewis Carroll know, back in the late eighteen hundreds, that the story he had written for a neighbor's child would become the classic that it is today. His story was both a satire and a piece of literary history that is as relevant now as it was then. Embrace your inner poet and dreamer at your next costumed event. Go as the heroine from Lewis Carroll's timeless tale in your Alice in wonderland costume.

The recent release of yet another movie retelling of the tale has brought new attention to the story. This time, the talented Tim Burton brought his interpretation to the story. Using the acting talents of luminaries such as Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, the story has been brought to life once more, with an interesting twist.

You can make your own costume for the role of Alice fairly simply. Start with a white knee-length skirt with lace trim. If you can not find such a skirt, try simply making a tube skirt with your sewing machine and stitching eyelet onto the hem.

Now you will need a blue dress, which has a pan style collar, short puffy sleeves and which hems just above the line of lace on your white shift. Over top of your dress, you will need to wear a white apron. The apron has a bib style, and ties at the base of the neck and at the waist.

Some are super simple. Others are more elaborate. To add some details to your costume, you might consider wearing your hair tied back with a black bow. Of course, if your natural hair color is not blond, you may either color it or choose to get a long blond wig for the occasion.

If you are not up to the task of making your own costume, it is easy enough to find one already made. A number of Alice in wonderland halloween costumes are easily found online and in costume stores. Whether you want to go for the classic Alice or the sexy Alice look, you will be certain to find what you are looking for.

She has some Alice costumes up. I think there are three all together.

  3. QUESTION:
what do you think of kids wearing sexy costumes?
would you let your future kids wear sexy costumes? i go to a 12-13 year old school, and last year i saw 2 girls wearing the same alice in wonderland costume. one looked like a normal teenager on halloween(she looks like a 15 year old even though she is 13 and she is kinda tall), but the other girl looked like a 10 year old either trying to be all "cutesy", or it looked like she was DYING for rape. i am short at my school and she is the only shorter person in my classes.

    the costume they both wore:

i personally think a 16 or older girl should wear them

    • ANSWER:
They should not wear them. NEVER. Until they're older.

  4. QUESTION:
For Halloween, should I be Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or the Greek goddess Athena?
My mom says that this year, I'm too old for trick-or-treating; however, I'm still going to wear a costume to hand out candy. What I thought of was either Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or Athena or another figure of Greek mythology, like Pandora.

I thought that with the Alice costume, when the kids came to the door, I could be all, "Oh, my! A tiger, a fairy and a ghoul! Don't tell me I'm back in Wonderland!", or for Dorothy, “Don’t tell me I’m back in Oz!”, but I already have the rudimentary "costume" for Athena, a cream colored sheet I could turn into a toga-like thing.

However, being Alice would mean having to buy nearly a whole costume, the blonde wig (I'm brunette), the blue dress, the white pinafore, and the white stockings/tights. Dorothy would probably be more work, though, because I’d have to buy (or find) the blue checkered dress, the white blouse, a long brunette wig (I have pretty short hair), the ribbons, and the red ruby slippers. However, I do have a terrier that would be pretty good for Toto! Additionally, the savings I’d get by being Athena might be offset by fewer kids knowing who I am. I have such a big problem here. *sigh*

So, you do the problem-solving for me: Alice, Dorothy or Athena for Halloween?
Come on people! I'll give you 10 points if you give me stores that have good( and cheap!) costumes/costume pieces along with what you think I should be. I know you want the ten points, come and take them!

    • ANSWER:
I love Alice in Wonderland and don't care for Wizard of Oz at all so maybe I'm a bit biased..But Alice is such a classic! :D "Curiouser and Curiouser"

Um..I have to say though some kids wont recognize it anyway. They're all obsessed with the newer stuff.

  5. QUESTION:
Alice in Wonderland Dress for a Party?
I want a dress like Alice's from Tim Burton's alice in wonderland for my birthday party that i am having in a few months. I'm not having any luck finding one that looks like hers and is under about 100 dollars. Can someone help?

Tim Burtons Alice In Wonderland 2010

I was hoping to find one that was similar to this but shorter. Probably one that comes up to my knees or just above,so farley short.
I also dont want it to look like a costume. Its for a sweet sixteen so nothing little kid like.
